You have probably heard a million times that you need to be on Facebook and Twitter for all of the same reasons; talking about your brand, connecting with consumers, and more about marketing your brand. Well it’s true and since I’ve been using Twitter, I’ve made some great connections, found out about trends before anyone else and increased my following.

My 3 simple ways Twitter can help your business:

  1. Watch your competition –By following your local competitors, you can keep an eye on what they are up to, talking about, who they are connecting with, etc. Twitter is a spy tool for small business.
  2. Keep an eye on location – Twitter tools such as Hootsuite and Tweetdeck make it extremely easy to build lists of locals and lists of your local area mentions and you can also follow trend’s in bigger market’s so you can be the first to do it in your area.
  3. Stop the promo and start listening – Are you talking about yourself too much? Build trust and a following by helping out others through valuable content and responses. A simple gesture is remembered and goes a long way!
